PO Ström

P O Ström (Per-Olov Ström) was a prominent Swedish glass designer working at Alsterfors Glassworks in the 1960s and 70s,
Per Olof Ström graduated from Konstfack in 1966 and then received a scholarship that enabled him to continue his studies. On the recommendation of one of his teachers, he was employed at Alsterfors Glassworks, where he quickly introduced new ideas and design concepts. Ström is particularly known for his colorful and geometrically simple glass objects, often called 'pop glass'.

He experimented with opal glass, a material previously used for lighting fixtures, and used it to create vases and bowls in vibrant colors that quickly became popular. His designs are characterized by clean lines and functionality, which contrasted with the heavier glass art common in Scandinavia at the time.
Colorful vases and bowls are often white on the inside and bright colors such as blue, green and orange on the outside, produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Many of these are signed often signed PO Ström and are dated between 1967 until 1970.
PO's work has continued to be sought after at auctions, where his pieces are often recognized for their timeless design and high quality.
