Boda Åfors

Boda and Åfors were two prominent glassworks in Småland that became known for their art and utility glass.

Boda Glasbruk (founded in 1864) became particularly prominent in the 1960s and 70s through collaborations with designers such as Erik Höglund, whose rustic and experimental glass with bubbles and iron decorations became iconic.

Åfors Glasbruk (founded in 1876) was known for its elegant art glass and collaborated with artists such as Bertil Vallien and Ulrica Hydman Vallien. Their glass was often decorative and expressive, with colorful motifs and unique techniques such as sand casting and stained glass.

Both mills became part of Kosta Boda and contributed greatly to the international reputation of Swedish glass art.
