Oiva Tokkia

Toikka studied at the Department of Ceramics at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki 1953-1956. At the beginning of his career, from 1956 to 1959, he was active in Arabia's art department. However, he is best known for his work with glass at Notsjöglasbruk, where in 1963 he became head of product development. There he designed both utility tableware and decorative objects, among which his glass birds and year cubes are particularly noticeable. One of his more famous glassware is Kastehelmi from 1964.
