Ulrica Hydman Vallien

Ulrica Hydman-Vallien was a colorful and pioneering Swedish glass artist working at Boda Åfors Glassworks from the 1970s. She became known for her expressive and personal design language that broke with the norms of traditional glass art.

Her work is characterized by hand-painted glass with strong colors, bold brushstrokes and motifs such as snakes, tulips and faces. She created both utility glass and unique art objects, where emotion and symbolism were at the center. Her iconic series such as *Tulip* and *Open Minds* became international successes.
