Gunnar Nylund
Gunnar Nylund became the artistic director of Rörstrand in Lidköping in the 1930s, when he was already an established ceramist in Denmark. He first worked at Bing & Gröndal Porcelainsfabrik in Copenhagen 1925-1928. Gunnar Nylund then worked for Rörstrand 1931–1955, most of the time as artistic director. Later he returned as a freelancer for many years. He became well known for his new matte feldspar glazed stoneware and for his stoneware chamotte animal sculptures.
Gunnar Nylund made over five decades about 30 reliefs and sculptures for public decoration. In addition, from the 1940s he had several freelance assignments, for a long time designed sanitary ware and bathroom fittings for the Ifö works, also designed many other things from glass and silver to refrigerators. From 1955 he was artistic director of the Strömbergshyttan glassworks in Hovmantorp.
