Hertha Bengtsson

Hertha Bengtsson (1917-1993) was a Swedish ceramicist and designer, best known for her work at Rörstrand porcelain factory. She was employed there in 1941 and quickly became a prominent designer. Her style is characterized by austere, functional forms with delicate relief patterns and often monochrome colours.

One of her most famous pieces is the 'Blue Fire' dinner service (1950), which combines elegant, deep blue porcelain with simple, stylish shapes. It was a huge success and is now a design classic. She also created other tableware such as the "Koka Blå", a more casual but stylish set with a relief pattern. After her time at Rörstrand, Bengtsson went on to design for other companies, including Rosenthal in Germany. Her designs are still sought after and appreciated for their timeless aesthetics and high quality.
