Helmer Ringström was a Swedish ceramicist and designer who worked for a time at Upsala-Ekeby, one of Sweden's most important ceramic factories. At Upsala-Ekeby he continued to develop his design language with a focus on decorative and functional ceramics, often characterized by clear lines, geometric patterns and contemporary color combinations.
His art is characterized by a modern style with influences from the design ideals of the 1950s and 60s, where utility ceramics were lifted to artistic heights. Helmer Ringström's work at Upsala-Ekeby contributed to the factory's strong profile in Swedish design, and his works are today highly valued in retro and vintage ceramics.
