Tapio Wirkkala

Tapio Wirkkala was one of Finland's most influential designers and had a long and significant collaboration with Iittala Glassworks. He was a versatile artist who renewed glass art with his unique combination of natural inspiration, technical precision and artistic depth.

His work for Iittala is characterized by organic shapes, clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. His most famous creations include the iconic *Ultima Thule* series, inspired by melted ice, as well as sculptural art glass with a distinctly Nordic feel.

Tapio Wirkkala's designs for Iittala have become a symbol of Finnish modernism and are today a coveted part of both glass design and international design history.
