Marianne Westman

Marianne Westman (1928-2017) was one of Sweden's most prominent designers of household porcelain and is particularly known for her work at Rörstrand. After studying at Konstfack, she took up a permanent position at Rörstrand in 1950, where she created several iconic tableware pieces. Among her most famous works are "Mon Amie" and "Picnic", both characterized by playful and nature-inspired patterns with clear contours. These series have become modern classics and are still sought after on the second-hand market today.
In addition to her work at Rörstrand, she also worked at Skrufs glassworks in the 1970s, where she created the "Provence" cheese tray and the "Le Chef" tableware. Later in her career, she freelanced in Germany, designing the "Kristina" and "Falun" dinnerware sets. In addition to ceramics, she also worked in textile design and continued to create patterns for the family textile studio.
